Hardcore wrestling legend Tommy Dreamer recently spoke about Dolph Ziggler’s return to WWE. The star showed up on the red brand this week.
Nic Nemeth was the latest entrant into the Last Time is Now tournament. The TNA Wrestling star showed up on RAW as the surprise opponent for Solo Sikoa. The two stars had a classic matchup with a chance to advance in the tournament. The former WWE star looked poised to win the match with a roll-up. However, Solo finally fought back and got the win with the Samoan Spike.
This week on the Busted Open podcast, Dreamer noted that despite the loss, Ziggler got a stellar reception from the New York fans. The legend was almost convinced that Dolph was advancing to the next round. He felt the crowd at Madison Square Garden must have given the star his due respect after the match. Tommy also mentioned that WWE did not clarify the star’s contract situation, but Ziggler was still under a deal with TNA Wrestling.
“Tonight’s match, there were two moments where I was like, ‘Man, he’s advancing in this tournament.’ He was great. I thought it helped all parties. Nic, I was not there. So I did not hear his ovation after he lost. But I’m sure the people would give him a nice standing ovation, clapping for him and chanting his name. Solo continued to move forward. Though you did not hear that he works with TNA Wrestling, but yes, Dolph Ziggler is under contract with TNA Wrestling.”
Zack Ryder also showed up at WWE SmackDown
Dolph Ziggler is not the only former WWE star to enter the Last Time is Now tournament. This past week on SmackDown, Zack Ryder also emerged in a first-round match as the surprise opponent for LA Knight.
