John Cena’s legendary career is nearing its end after he defeated Dominik Mysterio on WWE RAW in Boston to capture the Intercontinental Championship, finally becoming a Grand Slam Champion. On the other hand, WWE has been featuring a 16-man Last Time Is Now tournament to decide Cena’s final opponent.
Stars like Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev, and Damian Priest are already part of the bracket, with numerous surprise entrants expected as well. The tournament will determine who Cena will step into the ring one last time to close an era of unparalleled greatness at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII on December 13, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
This week’s NXT featured the massive return of Oba Femi. The star has been rumored to be a part of the 16-man tournament, and fans have been waiting to see the star compete against some of the best to get closer to a dream match with John Cena.

However, Shawn Michaels might have confirmed that the star won’t be a part of the tournament. Femi, following his return, seemingly confirmed that he had his sights set on Ricky Saints and the coveted NXT Championship. With Oba Femi having a massive storyline in plans, it is very unlikely that WWE would make him a part of the Last Time is Now tournament. Fans will have to wait and see what the company has in store for the young star next.
Former WWE star teased being a part of John Cena’s Last Time Is Now tournament
Former United States Champion Baron Corbin was released by WWE a few months ago. While the star had an incredible run in the company, the lack of storylines led to his release. Corbin, in a recent edition of the Busted Open Radio, addressed returning to WWE for the Last Time is Now tournament.
The star suggested that he had a lot of history with John Cena, potentially teasing that Cena could be another legendary name he could retire after Kurt Angle.
“I had a little, like, spark in my heart, going man, how cool would it be if I was the guy who didn’t work there right now who was in the tournament? Just the opportunity to go into it. And, John and I have a ton of history, you know. From him costing me the Money in the Bank briefcase to our match at SummerSlam. We’ve wrestled a billion times and promos against each other, there’s already history,” he said.
While Corbin’s return status remains uncertain, time will tell what WWE has in store for John Cena in his last match.
