Great News for John Cena fans

There is some great news for John Cena fans. The GOAT retired on December 13 after wrestling his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event against Gunther.

The match was highly intense and featured a lot of moments where both stars pulled out their best effort. At the end, the Ring General stood tall after making Cena tap out to bring his career to an end.

While the decision to have the 17-time World Champion tap out has divided fans, they have something to cheer about. In the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Dave Meltzer gave the bout between Cena and Gunther a rating of four and a half stars.

Meltzer described the match as very heated, as it saw plenty of counters from both wrestlers, with the Franchise Player trying his best to take down the former World Heavyweight Champion. He delivered an astonishing Avalanche Attitude Adjustment only to get a nearfall. One of the highlights of the match saw Cena hit an AA through the announce table on Gunther.

Cena also fought back from multiple attempts by the former Intercontinental champion to put him in a chokehold. Notably, earlier this year, Meltzer rated the WWE Championship match between Cena and Cody Rhodes as five stars.

This was the first five-star rating John Cena received for a match, since his Money in the Bank bout against CM Punk in 2011.

John Cena was full of praise for Gunther

While Gunther received a lot of heat for the finish of the match, John Cena was full of praise for his last-ever WWE opponent.

Speaking on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, he said he was honored to wrestle the 38-year-old star and respected his style.

Cena mentioned he hits hard and pure and, he has his utmost respect for what he does in the ring as far as his wrestling style goes.
