Drew McIntyre became the new Undisputed WWE Champion by defeating the previous title holder, Cody Rhodes, on the latest episode of SmackDown. This is the third time the Scottish Psychopath won this gold, and fans are hopeful that his reign will be lengthy and dominant.
McIntyre has many friends in the industry. He is reportedly close with former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho. Jericho joined All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and became one of their most important names. Tony Khan initially pushed him well. However, the legend’s in-ring work deteriorated with time. Rumors suggest that his contract with the Jacksonville-based company has expired, and he is WWE-bound.
TMZ recently interviewed the newly crowned Undisputed WWE Champion. In this conversation, the 40-year-old said that Y2J is one of his friends and he wouldn’t mind seeing him return to the Stamford-based company.
“Chris Jericho is one of my friends. I spent a lot of my youth with him. He’s a massive, massive star, and at this point in his life and career, whatever makes him happy makes me happy. He’s gonna make a huge splash wherever he goes. If it’s for us, why not?,” said the Scottish Psychopath.
Drew McIntyre says that 85% of the roster don’t look like wrestlers
Drew McIntyre gave an unhinged interview to The West Sport last year. He said that the majority of WWE stars don’t look like wrestlers and advised his colleagues to get in better shape.
“I’ve said it recently… 85% of the roster don’t look like wrestlers. I have a lot of friends that tune into Netflix for the first time… and, like, ‘wait a minute, I could beat up this guy. My kid could probably beat up this guy.’ So some of our roster need to dial it in. Maybe start looking like athletes,” said the WWE star. [H/T: Wrestling News]
Only time will tell what the future holds for Drew McIntyre in WWE. Many fans want to see him join AEW someday.
