Cody Rhodes to be stripped off the WWE Championship: Major backstage name sends official warning

Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship reign could be in serious jeopardy if he makes one wrong move. The American Nightmare was officially warned on SmackDown this week.

Cody Rhodes has been involved in a highly personal feud with Drew McIntyre in the sports entertainment juggernaut. McIntyre, in fact, got suspended for his attack on referee Dan Engler during this storyline.

After McIntyre’s involvement during Rhodes’ match against Oba Femi, QB1 demanded to Nick Aldis that the Scottish star be reinstated on SmackDown. Aldis tried to do the same, but things took a turn for the worse when Cody Rhodes invaded Drew McIntyre’s home, leading to a brawl between the two stars.

Last week, Nick Aldis informed Cody Rhodes that if Drew McIntyre paid a fine and issued a public apology for the attack on Engler, The American Nightmare couldn’t lay a finger on McIntyre. Rhodes was not pleased, but Aldis warned that he would be stripped of his title if he failed to follow orders.

On tonight’s SmackDown, Cody Rhodes arrived in the arena looking for Drew McIntyre. Nick Aldis once again officially warned him that he cannot lay a hand on McIntyre if the latter pays a fine and issues a public apology.

Top WWE star tipped to dethrone Cody Rhodes

While speaking on a recent edition of the NotSam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts stated that he wants to see Drew McIntyre dethrone Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title.

He proposed that McIntyre could have a short run before dropping the gold back to The American Nightmare.

“That’s why I was saying I want to see Drew McIntyre win the title. Even if it’s just like a quick switch, even if it’s not like a long run, giving Drew McIntyre the title and having Cody Rhodes beat him back for it would be a good thing,” Roberts said. [H/T -TJR Wrestling]

It will be interesting to see how Triple H books the feud between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre in the coming weeks.
