2025 has been a bittersweet year for Roman Reigns as he has been on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Whether it was regaining his Ula Fala or suffering a shocking betrayal, several major things unfolded in Roman’s WWE career this year. The former Undisputed WWE Champion spent most of his time on Monday Night RAW feuding with The Vision.
Overall, Reigns made several appearances on the weekly shows and premium live events. But he only competed in a total of seven matches this year, including a Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and a WarGames showdown. All the matches made a strong impression, as The OTC faced several big opponents for the first time in his career.
Let’s take a look at the year-end review of Roman Reigns’ time in WWE in the year 2025:
#5. A Tribal Combat to regain the lost power in the hierarchy
Roman Reigns kicked off the year with a big match against Solo Sikoa on WWE RAW’s Netflix debut. It was a Tribal Combat for the Ula Fala, which was in Sikoa’s possession. Roman delivered an amazing match with his former Bloodline member to regain the revered necklace and to reclaim his throne. The match marked the end of his feud with Solo Sikoa in WWE.
Following the match, The Rock came out to the ring to acknowledge The OTC. He paid tribute to Reigns by placing the Ula Fala around his neck, followed by a respectful hug. That showdown marked a big start for Roman Reigns this year and built his momentum for the Men’s Royal Rumble match and eventually the Road to WrestleMania 41.
#4. WrestleMania showdown with Seth Rollins and CM Punk
Roman Reigns did not compete in a title match this year at WrestleMania. Instead, The Tribal Chief faced Seth Rollins and CM Punk in a Triple Threat Match. The bout was built on the fact that the three stars could not stand each other. Therefore, they collided in the main event of WrestleMania Night 1 in order to determine who the superior man was.
Reigns played an anti-hero character throughout this feud, where he boasted that his presence was giving Seth Rollins and CM Punk a WrestleMania main event slot. Moreover, The OTC made only a couple of appearances to build this match before The Grandest Stage of Them All in Las Vegas. The Tribal Chief delivered one of the best performances of his career in that match.
#3. The generational betrayal by Paul Heyman
Paul Heyman played a crucial role during the build for Roman Reigns’ Triple Threat Match for WrestleMania 41. However, The Wiseman shockingly betrayed Roman at The Show of Shows to join Seth Rollins. This huge betrayal helped The Visionary win the main event match. It marked the end of the four-year-long alliance between Reigns and Heyman.
Following that betrayal, Paul Heyman became one of the biggest nemesis of the former Undisputed WWE Champion. He and Rollins went on to destroy Roman Reigns multiple times in 2025 with The Vision. Throughout the year, The OTC took various shots at Heyman during his promos, crafting a unique and compelling dynamic between the two after years of alliance.
#2. Roman Reigns’ prolonged feud with The Vision
Roman Reigns feuded with The Vision since WrestleMania 41. He faced several setbacks at the hands of Seth Rollins and his faction. Every time The OTC makes his return after a prolonged absence, he gets sidelined by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. It eventually became a running joke among fans about how Reigns returns to WWE only to disappear again.
The OTC teamed up with Jey Uso to take on Breakker and Reed at SummerSlam this year. WWE also did an amazing job in laying the foundation for a future feud between Roman Reigns and Bron Breakker. Meanwhile, The Tribal Chief faced Bronson Reed two times at big PLEs this year. While he managed to win at Clash in Paris, Reigns lost to Reed at Crown Jewel.
#1. WarGames clash & trilogy tease with Cody Rhodes
Roman Reigns’ feud with The Vision eventually led him to the Men’s WarGames Match. The 40-year-old teamed up with Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and The Usos to battle Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. Despite giving valiant efforts, Reigns’ team suffered a bitter loss in this epic showdown.
But following the match, WWE established the groundwork for a potential main event for WrestleMania 42. Roman and Cody had an intense face-off after the WarGames Match. The OTC subtly made it clear that he wants the Undisputed WWE Championship, setting the stage for the final clash of the trilogy with The American Nightmare.
