WWE SmackDown will soon see a former TNA World Champion get added to its locker room. However, instead of the Stamford-based promotion signing a wrestler from its partner company, the move will see one of its own stars ascending to the main roster.
As reported by Cory Hayes of BodySlam on X, Trick Williams has been listed internally on the blue-branded roster. Hayes’ tweet came in response to another tweet claiming that Trick Willy was backstage for the taping of the December 26, 2025, episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

The former TNA World Champion is also a two-time NXT Champion and a one-time NXT North American Champion, and fans have been awaiting his main roster move for quite some time.

Next week’s taping of the blue-branded show will see Trick Willy come face-to-face with Cody Rhodes in a backstage segment. Nick Aldis will make the two wrestlers meet in his office, the same way he made The American Nightmare meet Ricky Saints and Oba Femi ahead of NXT Deadline.
The meeting resulted in a new incentive for Saints and Femi for their Deadline match for the NXT Championship: the chance to face Cody Rhodes at the Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025, was added to the stakes.
The Ruler defeated the former AEW star to reclaim the NXT Championship, but had to face an additional level in the form of Je’Von Evans before making his way to the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Femi retained his newly won title against the 2025 Iron Survivor owing to an interference from Saints. However, his victory turned bittersweet when his SNME match against The American Nightmare ended in a DQ at the hands of Drew McIntyre.
It remains to be seen whether Trick Williams will also get his first WWE SmackDown match against Rhodes, as his friend and rival, Carmelo Hayes, did.
