48-Year-Old WWE Superstar Is Retiring Soon; He Doesn’t Want A Retirement Tour

A 48-year-old WWE superstar, who is retiring soon, doesn’t want a retirement tour. While fans are counting down the days left on John Cena’s last in-ring appearance, another popular star wants to go out quietly.

Before the Crown Jewel premium live event, AJ Styles confirmed that he will be retiring in 2026. He has said he has no set date in mind for when he will hang up his boots but wants to go out on his terms.

Given his decorated career, fans would expect a similar buildup and hype to what they saw with Cena’s farewell. However, The Phenomenal One wants to retire quietly.

During an appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, Styles was asked about facing CM Punk in WWE. He said while it will be great, he won’t be upset if it doesn’t happen.

“I could ride off into the sunset and be okay with it. I don’t have to have a AJ Styles retirement tour. I don’t have to have that. I don’t need that. I just want to be able to do it my own way. And literally, you don’t have to know that I even left. I could just be gone,” he said.

Styles said it was something that was worrying him before he realized that he gets to choose when to retire, a luxury not many can afford.

“It’s just one of those things that was eating me up inside, and I was acting weird. And then I was like, ‘What am I doing? I get to retire.’ The thing is a lot of people don’t get to retire. They have to retire. And I get to. And so I’m just going to enjoy, you know, what time I have left,” he added.

AJ Styles recently won a WWE championship

During the October 20 episode of RAW, AJ Styles teamed up with Dragon Lee to take on The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh for the World Tag Team championship.

A back-and-forth contest ended with The Phenomenal One hitting a Styles Clash on Balor to win the titles for his team.

This marked the second time Styles has won the Tag Team gold in WWE.
