3-time WWE champion opens up about his retirement: “I Haven’t officially retired yet”

A former WWE champion has opened up about his retirement. He confirmed he hasn’t retired from the ring.

MVP is currently having the time of his life in AEW. He is getting a proper run with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin as part of The Hurt Syndicate. The former WWE star also gets to compete in the ring occasionally. However, there are always rumors popping up about his retirement, given his age.

During an interview with CHGO Wrestling, MVP made it very clear that he hasn’t officially retired yet and he’s not going to retire as long as the Hurt Syndicate is active.

“I told him (Bobby Lashley), man, ‘I said, at this stage in my career, I feel great,’ because I haven’t officially retired yet. As long as the Hurt Syndicate is active, I’m not going to retire so that I can lace up the boots when we need a third. But I said, man, I got the best job in the world. My friends beat people up and I talk about it. Best job in the world. I don’t even have to wrestle.” [H/T Fightful]

Former WWE star MVP recently made a controversial comment

Inter gender wrestling has been gaining a lot of traction on the independent circuit over the years. While companies like AEW and WWE haven’t dabbled in officially booking such kinds of matches recently, other promotions around the world have tried it. Even TNA Wrestling tried its hand at intergender wrestling. This resulted in Tessa Blanchard winning the Impact World Championship. However, MVP isn’t a fan of this style of wrestling.

Speaking on his Marking Out podcast, the former WWE star said he is not a fan of intergender wrestling because he is in love with the shoot style matches. However, intergender wrestling is the opposite of shoot style.

“I’mma p*ss a lot of you people off right now and that’s okay. I am not a fan of intergender wrestling. I don’t like it, I’m not a fan of it. Again, this is what I was talking about before, the video game culture — who are now in wrestling — grew up playing Chun Lee and kicking the sh*t out of people. I approach wrestling from the simulated combat mindset. I’ve always liked the shoot style, I like the realness. That’s why I fell in love with Japanese wrestling. As soon as you do intergender sh*t, now it’s unbelievable.”

It will be interesting to see when MVP will decide to call it quits on his career.
